Vaigai River Restoration
The Madurai Management Association
organized a Student Development Programme in which three students from II MBA
participated. As a part of it, a panel Discussion with Mr. Richard Murray *Adviser to Asia
Initiatives) on the “Vaigai River Restoration” was held at Hotal Moskva, where
students from Colombia University, USA and students from several other colleges
shared their views relating to this project. The occasion was inaugurated by
Mrs. Geetha Mehta, who stated about the reasons for pollution in the river. This
was followed by the presentation by the students of Columbia university. They
shared their ideas on restoration of the
river. They stated the reasons for pollution and also suggested measures for
the restoration. On the whole, the event created a general awareness about the
measures to recreate the lost Vaigai river a new look. which would serve as a
good source of water at least for the future generation.
CII & UNICEF
Workshop on Child Rights and Business Principles
The Confederation of
Indian Industry (CII) and United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) collectively
organized a workshop on “Child Rights and Business Principles” for the students
of MBA and for corporate executives, in JC residency, Madurai. Five students
from II MBA participated in it. The session was inaugurated by Mr. Mathew John,
Executive officer of CII, which was followed by introduction of the resource
persons for the day. The workshop was based on “Child Rights & Business Principles
(CRBP)”. Mr. Sekar gave an Introduction about CRBP and the approaches to CRBP
which was very informative. This was continued by Mrs. Sugata Roy, who briefed
about the role of Stake holders in the current business Scenario in India. The CII
& UNICEF also made an action plan to implement CRBP in Tamil Nadu for the
welfare of the children society. Mr. Ramkumar, member of UNICEF concluded the
session by delivering vote of thanks. The workshop proved to be informative and
interesting session. The Students experienced a fruitful interaction and learning.
